Call for Abstracts
- Abstracts must be submitted electronically.
- Submission deadline is 30th October 2012.
- All abstracts must be written in English.
- Abstracts topics should be related to renal patient education.
- No abbreviations to be used in the title.
- Titles should be no longer than 14 words.
- Poster presentations carry the same status as oral presentations.
- Accepted abstracts will be published in Abstract Book.
- The following subdivisions are recommended:
- Background
- Objectives
- Methods
- Results
- Conclusion/Application to practice
- Abstracts should be on a single side of A4, using Ariel font size 11, with a 1cm margin. Longer abstracts will not be accepted.
- All abstract authors will be notified by e-mail, by the 13th November 2012.

About the Kidney Education Network
The Kidney Education Network was set up to support the delivery of high quality education for patients with chronic kidney disease, and those caring for them.
Scope:
- All aspects of chronic kidney disease education for; patients, their family and carers and the public interacting both professionally and socially.
- To champion renal patient, family and carer empowerment through education, treatment choice, self-efficacy, decision making and coping mechanisms.
- Pre-treatment education & treatment decision making; continuing throughout the patient’s renal care pathway.
- Support renal teams in integrating structured education for individuals with chronic renal failure in their service, by providing a framework for curriculum development, educator training, quality assurance and audit which meets the Department of Health approved criteria.
- Consistent delivery of educational components by training the educators.
- Research based evaluation of education delivery, content and effect to provide/support evidence based practice guidelines.
Objectives:
- To support delivery of high quality evidence based education for chronic renal failure patients and those caring for them.
- To support centres in accessing appropriate staff training.
- To support research applications and studies, into renal patient education and empowerment.
- To collaborate in the development of standards for renal education interventions.
- To develop and deliver a programme of Renal Education Network national and specialist interest meetings/courses.
- To enable centres to share best practice and learn from each other.
- To utilise common evaluation criteria to facilitate quality assurance.
